Vote On The Board Member Who Best Represents Your Views
During our Annual Meeting in April, you’ll be able to vote on three individuals to fill slots on the credit union Board of Directors. In accordance with the credit union bylaws, the Board Chairman has appointed a Nominating Committee, consisting of Kelly Brisendine, Chair, Maryanne McCurdy and Zack Martin. This committee has submitted the names of the following individuals to serve three year terms on the Board of Directors of Geor-gia Florida United Methodist Federal Credit Union: Michael McQueen, Dennis Stalvey and Douglas Zipperer. Nominations to the Board of Directors may be made by petitions submitted by members. Qualifying packages may be picked up at the credit union office. Those members who wish to nominate someone for a vacancy should prepare and submit a petition in accordance with published procedures by March 15, 2008. Nominees must be members in good standing. Be a part of the democratic process that makes credit unions so special.
Our Nominated Board Members Are:
Rev. Dr. Michael T. McQueen
The Reverend Doctor Michael T. McQueen, a current credit union board member, is the Senior Pastor of St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta. Reverend McQueen is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Drexel University and went on to earn his Mas-ters of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from the International Theological Center (ITC). Reverend McQueen currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Parent Youth Convocation an affiliate of the International Theological Center, the United Methodist Children’s Home and the Georgia Florida United Methodist Federal Credit Union. Reverend McQueen and his wife Wanda have two sons, Michael II and Malik.
Dennis E. StalveyRev.
Stalvey has served on the board for over a year, completing the term of Larry Roberts. Rev. Stalvey received a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Valdosta State Univer-sity and was a teacher for several years before answering the call to ministry. He received his 5 year certificate from Emory University and then graduated with a Master of Divinity degree from the Candler School of Theology. Rev. Stalvey has held several conference positions over the years includ-ing treasurer of the Conference Executive Committee on Evangelism and the Valdosta and Macon districts Board of Ordained Ministry Committees. Rev.Stalvey and wife, Jerita H. Stalvey, have three sons, two of whom are currently serving in the U.S. Army, and one grandson. Rev. Stalvey has trav-eled extensively worldwide and is an avid storyteller.
Douglas Zipperer
Rev. Zipperer is a pastor in the Florida Annual Conference and is currently serving Port Charlotte UMC in Port Charlotte, FL. Rev. Zipperer was president of Florida United Methodist Credit Union when the merger with Georgia Methodist FCU was initiated and completed and has served on a number of Conference and District boards over the years. He was born on June 9, 1950 in Savannah, GA. He married Suzanne Waters in 1970 and they raised three children, Angela, Jason and Andy. They are the proud grandparents of four grandchildren. Rev. Zipperer currently serves on the Board of Directors as a Florida representative and has held that position for one term.
