| The Credit Union Has A Scholarship?
It May Seem Surprising, But It’s True!
Know a future high school graduate who could use some extra funds for col-lege? Have them apply for one of our scholarships. Three winning applicants from each of our three conferences---Florida, North Georgia and South Geor-gia--will receive $1,000 each. Applications are available on our website, www.unitedmethodistcu.com and are due, along with a 500 word essay, by April 30, 2008. Specifically, applicants will need to meet the following requirements:
Be a Credit Union member in good standing. Joining requires a $25 initial depos-it into a share savings account, but once a member, your college student is eligible to participate in Credit Union products and services.Submit a 500 word essay. This essay needs to answer the following questions: Why should United Methodist church members belong to Georgia Florida United Methodist Federal Credit Union and what does the credit union offer them and the Methodist Community?
Turn in the essay and completed application no later than April 30, 2008. Again, an application may be found at www.unitedmethodistcu.com. Scholarships will be awarded at the Conference meetings in June at the Florida, North Georgia and South Georgia Conferences.
As always, if you have any questions regarding our scholarship program or the application requirements, con-tact us at 1-800-282-9368 (Georgia) or 1-866-687-2136 (Florida).

A Good Credit Score
Depends On Your
Good Habits
Here Are A Few Tips To Help You
Stay On Top Of Your Game |
Keeping your credit score high and in good standing is an important task. You should always take great strides in maintaining your score. Here are a few tip to help you in your pursuit of a high credit score:
1. Always pay your bills on time - A good payment history is one of the most critical factors in determining your credit score.
2. Maintaining different types of credit and loan accounts for a long period of time (7+ years) is a major factor in your credit score.
3. Avoid maxing your credit cards, having excess debt. Keep-ing your debt under control shows you are a responsible consumer.
4. Don’t apply for a lot of credit cards. Many applications can make you seem risky to creditors. Checking your own credit is not detrimental to your score.
5. Remember that any bankruptcy filings, judgments, tax liens and collection records will remain on your credit report for 7-10 years. These can do damage to your credit score. Check your credit report regularly, being careful to notice signs of identity theft.
If you have questions regarding your credit report, contact the credit union. Our staff will be happy to answer any questions you have.
